Buenos Aires

Small rooms, one-person labels and a generation that traded nostalgia for rock nacional for short, nervous songs.

Buenos Aires

What's happening?

In Buenos Aires, new independent music happens in rooms that hold a hundred people — and often fewer than that. Club Mirador, in San Telmo, has become a meeting point: bands play on Tuesdays, the audience is made up of other bands, and everyone leaves with a new idea.

A shared sound, without agreeing on it

Niebla Corta and Patio Sur don't sound alike, but they share an attitude: short songs, cheap recordings and no desire to look bigger than they are. The label Discos Humo releases everything in editions of fifty copies and on digital platforms on the same day.

“Nobody here is waiting to be discovered. We're too busy playing.”

What makes the scene interesting now is its speed: in less than two years, a circuit of venues, labels and collectives has formed without institutional support, connecting the city to Córdoba and Rosario.
