About

A listening notebook for music that doesn't have a name yet.

What diminutus° is

An independent, international publication about emerging music. Playlists, scenes, artists and writing about what is happening now — from anywhere.

What we look for

Artists, scenes and movements still outside international consensus. The playlist is the way in; the curation is the product.

How we choose

Every selection is made by a person, listening. No algorithm decides what gets in. Every track has a written reason for being there.

Why local scenes

Emerging music isn't born only in the obvious centres. It is born in small rooms, one-person labels and cities that rarely appear on the industry's maps.

What “emerging” means

It doesn't necessarily mean newly formed. It means music, an artist or a scene still gaining recognition outside its immediate context.

Why diminutus?

In harmony, the diminished chord is built from stacked minor thirds. It sounds unstable, tense, on the verge of resolving into something else. It is a passing chord: not a destination, but movement. The ° symbol is its notation — that is how we see the music we listen to here.
