What does it mean to be emerging in 2026?
It isn't being new, or being small. It is being in transit.

“Emerging” is a worn-out word. It usually means “new” or “small”, and neither of those matters much here.
For diminutus°, an emerging artist is someone whose music is still gaining recognition outside its immediate context. Maré Baixa has played in Recife for years; Sala Oito has three records. Neither is new. Both are emerging.
Three questions
- Does the music already circulate outside its home city?
- Does the international press already have a ready-made story about the artist?
- Two years from now, will this music sound obvious?
If the answers are “a little”, “no” and “probably”, we are in the right place.
